**** *** ****

The following rant may be offensive, sensitive, and I don't care.

Today was a beautiful day until I was asked to see Puan Norianni, however you spell it. She seemed nice until she told me that there is a problem with the WAT'S UR NEXT MOVE shirt design. She, our senior assistant of co-curricular activity, told me the most absurd thing I heard in my 17 years of life.

She claimed that after discussing with the agama teacher, our design may cause some problems because of the cross which is found on the king's head. It could be misunderstood as a symbol that somehow relates to christianity?! WHAT THE. That's my first reaction. I was shocked. My jaw dropped from my mouth to the ground first floor.( I was at the second floor at the time.)

Who in the right mind would say such things? I really really don't get it. First, that cross on the king's head. It's a plus sign of equal length for each side. So it ain't a christian cross. Next, I can assure everyone in the world that every king on the chess board has a cross on top of it. You know why? BECAUSE THAT'S HOW IT WAS DESIGN ******.

I don't think that anyone would think of would be affected into thinking that the design would have anything to do with christianity. You know why? BECAUSE IT DOESN'T. Teacher says that we are not the problem. She said that students would wear those shirt at home and when they're parents see it, they might be unhappy about it. And when their young siblings see it, they might in some weird way get affected by christianity. Dear blog readers, if you can understand this blog, you have common sense then. You tell me.

Then the weirder things came up. Well I was like okay so if you insist, this shirt will not be sold to the malays then. AND NOW. She said, 1Malaysia, we must take into account of everyone's thought. So if don't sell, all don't sell. I was bombed. BOMBED. In chinese it's called ZHA DAO. It's when you have a lightning strike behind you and you're the only one who can feel it.

1Malaysia is about unity. It's about doing things that everyone does and accepting it without prejudice whatsover. It's not about restricting ourselves. Doing only things that satisfy everyone. That's not how the world works. Get over it.

I was discussing with the teacher for quite some time and she's still reluctant to change her mind. I know what she means, I understand her point. But I just feel that it is not a good-enough reason to make me change anything at all. Redesigning it, redrawing it, that's not a problem. It's just time and work. But I feel that what she said can't be considered as a reason for me to make any changes.

Is vexed. Is still flabbergasted to see how such knowledgeable people can say such words. If you are really relligious, then you will not feel anything. Being relligious doesn't mean to be protective or defensive for your relligion. It means to understand what is right and following it.

Conclusion : I don't wanna be racist. But this. will not happen in Singapore.

The end.
