End of the line?

The hot topic for the past week is none other than the disaster that struck Japan. Earthquake, tsunami, now nuclear radiations. Lives are lost, thousands are missing, families are broken, all hopes are lost for many of them.

It started off with an earthquake east of Japan. A magnitude of 8.9 on the richter scale. It's like in the top 5 of the largest earthquakes ever recorded. Japan is prone to earthquake. I heard it's about 200 earthquakes on an average day. So naturally the buildings are made quakeproof. As scary as this megathrust may sound, it's the tsunami afterwards that bombed everyone off guard.

I saw the pictures and footages of it on youtube. It was literally what I saw in the movie 2012. Breathtaking in the utmost negative way. I felt chills in my bones when I saw this. Believe it.

Then a few days after nuclear plant exploded. Massive radiation outbreak. To what extent the radiations are harmful I'm not sure. But everyone in Japan pretty much freaked out. Tokyo instantly became a ghost town. Japan's economy took a dip. Everything, everything is messed up.

It's almost like God saying 'Alright Japan time's up for you. Go earthquake. What? Didn't work? Okay launch the tsunami. Hm still job undone? Radiations you're up! ' You get what I mean. And I'm telling you some weird disease is gonna pop up due to the radiation. Mutations this and that. Seriously the world is in crisis. This is scary.

And look at us now. We're all doing fine. Our country is located so bloody damn strategic that none of the earthquake or tsunami hit us. At least not for now. And for that shouldn't we all be thankful? Shouldn't we all be grateful for every second we live in this world? Now look at those who complaint that they don't have a good enough phone. Those who think their world is ending because they don't do well in school. And of course people who get fed up because of losing a game in dota. At some point aren't we all like that? (except the dota part)

Do realise that any moment at all, even now, now, now, or now, we could all die. The earth could explode. Your ceiling fan could fall and rip your head off. Your computer might electrocute you to death. It's a blessing to be alive. And if we really recognize that we shouldn't be taking life for granted.

This is a wake up call for you and I. I know it's impossible to worry about nothing and just be thankful for being healthy and alive. But let's try to always keep that thinking in mind. It's scary to say that we should live as if every moment is our last. I would go crazy like that. But the least we can do is to do good, love people, and basically just not take life for granted.

For now, all we can do is make donations and pray for the safety of the people in Japan. Hopefully we don't need more disasters like this to remind us of how lucky we are.

*And that is why I think Final Destination is one of the most meaningful movies of all time*
