On a non-related topic, hello people.
Some 3 weeks ago I performed for the School of Engineering Christmas Party. And guess what. It was a total disaster. Very. Very. Terrible. The event was poorly planned. Seriously us engineering people should stick to what we know best, solving problems. Not creating them.
Everyone was sitting down like kids. They were all in their own groups chatting. How can anyone perform in such circumstances? There was minimal attention from anyone at all. The sound system sucked ass. People could barely hear me. It was a total mess.
Here comes the worst part. The close up audience. I picked a guy and a girl out of the crowd to sit close up with me. The girl was Fazhana, a friend of Shaqir's. She was very nice. And then we have the guy. Who's from MOT. A schmuck-heckler who acts like a 5 year old. The idiot who freaking hid half of the deck while I was explaining prior to the effect.
I carefully tailored my routine. I squeezed every brain juice I had to figure out how to introduce the cooler deck at the right time with the right misdirection. I wouldn't blame the audience for the poor response. I just think that the whole event wasn't meant for any performance to take place at all. It was like a chill out party. No one gives a shit about what everyone else is doing.
By the 5 minute mark I knew I wanted to stop performing. I changed the blue deck to red and there was no reaction. Less than half of the crowd was even watching. Instead people were queuing up for the Frolick booth. I got fed up and ended everything with a stupid card change.
Seriously. Screw you, poor-event-planning.
The night didn't end up that bad though. I had fun with Li Xue and my friends. Eating and chatting. The hop night was a stupid idea though. Just some not-that-loud-but-quite-loud music pumping in the background while everyone was just getting high without any specific reason. The crowd was small so everything looked kinda.Uhh. Cute.
The silver lining was that I did my best. And that Fazhana was being very helpful. I enjoyed her reaction. And a guy from Student Union requested for my performance during a New Year Party. We'll see how that goes. Other than that, I'll probably not perform for any engineering events ever. To think I suited up for it.
And there were light sticks. And yes I'll update more often. For the 9882926th time.

*When I realise I'm angry I stop immediately because those people are really not worth my time to even think about *
