STEREOTYPES. No it has nothing to do with audio, stereo, or hi-fi systems. Hm, stereotypes are basically an image of a person that comes to mind when being mentioned of its kind, if that made any sense. Examples.
Nerd stereotypes : Glasses, neat hair, bookworm, scores As' in every subject, quiet, seldom see the sun.
Rich girl stereotypes : Princess life style, takes about 1 hour to comb her hair, will die upon contacting dirt, pink, dresses.
Ah beng stereotypes : Legs wide apart, swinging arms like chimpanzees, coloured hair, vulgarity, tight clothes, motorcycle.
Yea you get the idea. And lately in our community, I can see a new generation of stereotypes rising. Haha.
Malaysian chinese teen girl stereotype : Self-taken photos, act cute, fail in acting cute, act shy, straight hair, loves to 撒娇 (I'm not sure how to say that in english), likes taiwan shows and last but not least... goes crazy over korean guys.
Malaysian chinese guys stereotype : Act cool, try to look as innocent as possible in photos, gel/moose/wax/cream, and of course.... DOTA.
I'm not saying it's good or not to be a stereotype but I think that many actually try to become one. I think that they're not confident in themselves and therefore wants to be like others, or think that it is 'cooler' to be one of them.
To me, this is wrong wrong wrong. People should not be afraid to be different. And the word different, why do you think people use it? Because there's a norm that defines what everyone should be like. And therefore everyone's sticking to it. People have to get that out of their heads. Stop following the trends. Stop living in the shadows of others. Be yourself. Life's too short to be anyone else.
Stay true. =)
