... a bunch of baseballers, a few kings and queens, and Bart Simpson.

Lefties magicians or cardicians that I know of are Lee Asher, Bill Malone, John Carney, Eric Jones, Andrei Jikh, Jonathan Bayme and probably a few others.

And of course my friends. Jia En, Qayum, Afiq, Dyi Perng, Usha, Xin Hui, Ke Xin, Helen and Daniel Tan. Some must have slipped my mind.

Anyway being left handed is something that I have forgotten. Not like memory loss. But I forgot how different I am from others. Special. Unique. Rare.

Lefties take up about 15% of the world's population. And if both parents are righties, the chances of having a lefty baby are only 2%. Though there is a high tendency in twins for one to be left-handed. I read that lefties triumph over righties in sports that require spatial judgement such as tennis, baseball, swimming, fencing. And that lefties are more creative and artistic. Something to do with the right brain.

And of course there are bad news. Lefties are more keen to become alcoholics. And we're more exposed to the threats of illnesses. Insomnia and a few others. I once read that lefties generally die faster than righties, by 9 years or something. Later I found out that that's just crap. Or it could be that the latest one I read is crap which uncraps the one before. Or not.

This world of 85% righties is of course, built for right handers. And that's why life is somewhat harder for us.

1. I can't use the scissors properly.
2. I can't write properly with a watch on my left hand. (explaining why I don't wear one)
3. When I write, the ink stains the side of my left hand.
4. If I sit to the right of a righty and use chopsticks, we'll have a chopstick battle.
5. I so want to step the gas pedal with my left foot which I will then look like an idiot.
6. I can't play a normal guitar or anything that's right handed.
7. When learning card magic or flourishes, I'd either have to get a mirror and learn from the mirror image or mentally reverse everything from right to left.

Still, I'm very thankful to be a left hander. It's what I am. It's what I'm proud of.

* I secretly think that lefties are just awesome. *
