Khai Xiang bakes cookies

Only now I get what you mean

In the mood to blog. So here I am.

I baked cookies the other day. First try. So I wasn't expecting much. All I wished for was 'please don't let it turn out too crappy so at least I won't have to down all of it alone. ' That'd be sad.

Compared to baking a cake the steps are slightly simpler. Though I had a few problems understanding the recipe.

Two step. Two step. Two step.

Salted or unsalted butter?
How much butter?
Do I melt the butter?
Do other cereal work?
Is it cereal or cereals? (Sign of deviation of attention)
How much is 20g to 30g?
How many eggs?
Do I need to use baking paper?
Temperature?
Do I let it cool inside or take it out?

After a simple briefing by the cookie master's assistance herself, I finally half understood what the idea was. Ah who cares. Just do it. It took just a while. And I baked it at uhh... dang I forgot the temperature.

Reminder : Ask again.

I chose not to make it any shape in specific. Reason being that if I made it look nice. There'll be expectation. And with that comes disappointment. Great strategy right. Not.

You know who am I I am

So I honoured my cookies to my friends. They were in the middle of an exam I think. If they wanted to skip the test they could always feign diarrhoea and use this as an excuse. Seemed perfectly reasonable.

Verdict :

Taste okay.
Too thin.
Not that good I think.

Ah well. Can't be good at first tries. I'll bake somemore if I'm in the mood.

* Cake over cookies anytime of anyday of any week of any year *
