Kapoow!

I sang today.

You know we all do. In our rooms, when we're alone, when we're bored. So it wasn't a big thing for me, but it kinda was for my friends. They haven't really heard me sing before. I dare not ask them how I did. I don't think I'll be able to take the blow. Haha.

Which brings me to the topic of the day. MUSIC.
Or more specifically. Korean music.
Or more specifically. K-POP.
Straight up, I don't like K-pop.

PS : Whatever I say. I mean most. Not all. Most. And if you're a K-pop lover, do not read this.

To me, K-pop isn't about music. It's an entertainment business. K-pop stars aren't really legit musicians. They are celebrities. Music isn't their life, it's their job.

Sebagai pembuka bicara, we all can see that K-pop stars are in groups. No, not like Take That or Il Divo of 4 or 5 person. They have groups of 7, 8, or more members. Like a whole rescue squad. They could probably switch one member for a new guy and no one would be able to notice it.

I don't see any single artist. Not even one. Why is that so? Being in a group means that it's harder for anyone of them to stand out, to be acknowledged as an individual artist with personal musical style. Therefore it's hard for me to take them seriously. It's starting to become a joke to me that they're singing together like a 大合唱, 唱爽, 唱玩玩而已.

Next, their music. The songs. In my opinion, K-pop is boring in that sense. What I search for in music is ORIGINALITY. Something new to the world, something never before heard, something different, a new sound. I'm not saying K-pop is bad music. I'm saying it's nothing special. It's not a genre on its own. Merely regular pop songs, in the korean language, sung by 5382746872 pretty girls who look the same.

The one and only good thing is some of them are catchy. Though I probably can't even name 5. Let me try. Nobody, Sorry Sorry, The 'Gee-gee-gee-gee-baby-baby' one, habis dah. I'm not even sure if they wrote the songs on their own. And all of them just sing, none of them play any instrument at all. At least not in their songs they don't. Okay singing it is. They don't even sound great, their vocals honestly isn't that good. They use autotune. What's left to be said. Therefore for me, K-pop isn't to be recognized for their music.

What else. MV. They make MVs' about themselves, not about the song. All I see is everyone of them dressed in the same uniform, dancing and singing. I mean it's fine if they have music videos like that. The thing is I don't see any variety whatsoever. All of them look the same. Plus they don't dance super well. I mean Justin Bieber may even be better.

For an artist to dance and sing at the same time is an extremely hard task which not many can handle. So dancing mediocre, singing mediocre, doing both together obviously doesn't improve anything all. Perhaps they're trying to do something else to make them look better since they don't have great vocals. Of course it's fun to watch, but nothing to be taken seriously. If you want quality singing and dancing, go watch Michael Jackson. There's a reason why he's called the King of Pop.

So let's see. They can't sing well, they can't dance well, their songs aren't great, they don't play instruments. So what do they do actually. Are they singers? Are they dancers? Are they artists? Are they musicians? Like I said, they are celebrities. And what do celebs have? Only one important thing, FAME. How do they get their fame? Why are so many people crazy over them? Simple, LOOKS.

And the end of the day, it's face. Good looks, slim figure, sexy attire. That's all there is to it. Let me ask you one question, if a person has long eye lashes will you go compliment them? Yes, very likely. Now, if you know that that person puts on fake eye lashes plus mascara, will you go compliment them? No, why would I, it's fake. EXACTLY.

From what I've heard. Like almost every K-pop artist underwent plastic surgery, especially girls. They probably went to the same surgeon. Maybe the surgeon was out of ideas for new looks. That explains why they all look alike. Haha I'm kidding. Joke's aside, I do not think that their beauty are natural. And if they are, they should go modelling. Leave music to the musicians. PLASTIC PLASTIC PLASTIC.

Beauty fades however. In 10, 20 years, they will not look as handsome or as hot like now. So now take away the pretty faces, replace them with old and wrinkled ones, will you still enjoy K-pop? If yes, will you appreciate K-pop as much? If you replace the sexy chicks with fat ladies, will you watch their mv? Now we all see that K-pop is probably 90% about looks, which only lasts temporarily. So if you really wanna see hot guys and girls, go idolise models. I'm sure they're much prettier and handsomer than the K-pop stars.

So tell me people, what is there to like about K-pop? Can you imagine yourself listening to Sorry Sorry when you're old? Can you imagine the Wonder Girls dancing when they're old? Tell me, when was the last time you heard Sorry Sorry? Is that song dead already? That's why I say. The songs won't last. The artists won't last. K-pop won't last. It just cannot stand the test of time. If K-pop don't come up with something new, something good, it'll be gone in about 5 years tops.

To me, they are just the music company's puppets. They are not meant to last. They'll be around the music industry for a good one two years. Make a few million dollars. And they're out. Next batch of hot sexy ladies and cute handsome guys please. So the whole K-pop is not about music based on creative ideas and innovative styles. K-pop is a means to make money based on looks. Ouch right. I know.

Wooh that was a long post. Oh well. That's my take on K-pop. Yeap might sound a bit harsh, but to me that's the truth.

I'll go now. Hate my opinion, not me.

*Happy Birthday Vanessssssssssa!*
